How are relations with your Ex? Sometimes better than expected.
Many couples who split then manage to forge a replacement relationship which is based on real friendship.
Sadly that is not always the case but most of us know at least one couple who maintain a good relationship after separating. Usually they say that they get on better with their Ex now than when they were together.
The Divorce Didn’t Last
The renowned English Jazz pianist Marian McPartland married
American Jazz trumpeter Jimmy McPartland in 1945 but after a few years they separated and later divorced.
However as Marian used to say ‘The divorce didn’t last’.
They used to speak on the phone most days and remarried when Jimmy was dying of cancer.
In my interpretation of the changing face of love, their relationship gradually made the transition from Romantic Love to Mature Love.
Mature Love is usually based on deep friendship. It seems to be much more sustaining and beautiful than the hot passion of youthful Romantic love, which unfortunately doesn’t last.
But at my age I would say that wouldn’t I? – lol.
For jazz lovers I have found a wonderful clip on YouTube of Marian and Jimmy jamming in 1975 – enjoy. https://youtu.be/gWNuAHW_esc
